Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct labeling of all radiographic images.
  • Document necessary records accurately.
  • Follow radiation safety regulations meticulously.
  • Assist physicians with contrast material administration.

Overview

For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.

Under the direction of the Chief Technologist or his/her designee, performs radiographic examinations during pain management interventional procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

Responsibilities
  • Patient and Room Preparation
    • Enter patient data into computer systems as necessary.
    • Print orders.
    • Ensure the assigned room is properly equipped with linens.
    • Move patient into procedure room either on stretcher, wheelchair or ambulating.
    • Assist in transfers of patient to X‑ray.
    • Maintain room turnaround time of 5 minutes after completion of previous case.
    • Work in parallel so that nursing, medical, and technological staff remain efficient.
  • Obtain radiographic images
    • Set appropriate exposure factors and position the patient, including immobilizing devices if necessary, to obtain high‑quality images for the physician.
    • Patient positioning is under the control of the technologist with direction from the physician and established protocols.
  • Correct labeling of all radiographic images
    • Use patient identification labels and side markers for each print.
    • Ensure all images are correctly labeled.
  • Maintain all necessary records of films, fluoroscopy time, etc.
    • Document all necessary records accurately.
  • Observe all rules and regulations regarding patient identification and radiation safety for patients and staff
    • Follow radiation safety procedures without error.
    • Zero tolerance for misidentification or misadministration.
  • Assist physician with administration of contrast material
    • Prepare contrast material in syringes and other equipment necessary for injection.
    • Ensure preparation is error‑free.
  • Train students
    • Provide knowledgeable information while training other associates and students.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area
    • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other related assigned tasks.
Requirements
  • High School Required or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal two‑year Radiologic Technology training certified program.
  • Certified by the ARRT.
  • Valid X‑Ray Tech license from the State of New York.
  • Knowledge of radiographic exposure equipment and Epic tracking equipment.
Preferred Qualities
  • Associate Degree.
