Universal Health Services seeks a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist to perform ultrasound exams and support radiologists with image interpretation. The role requires independent judgment, adherence to protocols, and travel to other sites as needed.

Ideal candidates have ARRT/ARDMS certification, BLS, and at least one year of diagnostic sonography experience; Monday–Friday 8am–5pm hours apply.

Qualificações

• Registry with ARRT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Society preferred.
• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification required.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional required.

Responsabilidades

• Assist patients in preparation for radiology procedures.
• Perform ultrasound exams using correct positioning, equipment and technical factors.
• Utilize PACS systems to attain and store radiology images; ensure demographics match orders.
• Critique images and complete documentation in PACS and radiology orders.
• Utilize Order Entry System to access orders and complete exams.
• Obtain patient history and document results.
• Select proper MHz transducer for examination.
• Assist Radiologist during procedures.
• Clean and maintain ultrasound equipment.
• Monitor equipment functioning and schedule maintenance.
• Manage patient flow and adapt schedule.
• Perform on-call duties as needed.
• Train and assist other sonographers and students.
• Recognize deviations from standard practice and escalate to Chief radiologist.
• Order and maintain ultrasound supplies.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.

Summary:Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures at a professional level. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. Travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:One year of diagnostic sonography experience preferred. Registry with ARRT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Society preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification required. Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) American Heart Association Certification required.

1. 1. Assist patients in preparation for radiology procedures. Explains procedures to patient/family to gain cooperation and understanding.
2. 2. Perform ultrasound exams using correct positioning, equipment and technical factors.
3. 3. Utilize PACS systems to attain and store radiology images. Ensure patient demographics match electronic radiology order and each image is accounted for.
4. 4. Critique images and complete documentation in PACS network and electronic radiology order to ensure the study is promptly and correctly available for the radiologist to interpret.
5. 5. Utilizes Order Entry System to access orders and complete exams.
6. 6. Obtain patient history, documents patient history and lab work results.
7. 7. Select proper megahertz transducer for examination (i.e. department or part, nature of pathology)
8. 8. Assist Radiologist during physical examination, sonographic examination, or intervention procedures.
9. 9. Clean monitors and maintain ultrasound equipment (i.e. transducer, filter, gel bottles, laundry, log books, etc)
10. 10. Monitor equipment functioning; schedule preventive maintenance/ equipment repairs; report malfunctions to management.
11. 11. Monitor patient flow and adapt schedule according to shifting priorities.
12. 12. Perform on-call duties as needed.
13. 13. Train and assist other sonographers and ultrasound students.
14. 14. Recognize deviations from standard practice/ procedures; initiate immediate action in a crisis or emergency situation, and keep Chief radiologist informed.
15. 15. Order and maintain ultrasound supplies.
16. 16. Participate in the development, implementation and follow-through of departmental quality improvement activities.
