Ziegler CAT is hiring a full-time Diesel Truck Technician in Altoona, PA to perform complete tractor and trailer repairs in a shop setting. Typical hours are Mon-Fri, 7:30-4:00, with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant truck and trailer repair experience preferred
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Federal inspection knowledge preferred
• Able to drive equipment; strong documentation and communication skills
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize diagnostic systems

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complete tractor and trailer including truck engine, power train, and chassis
• Document work orders thoroughly to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies and standards
• Collaborate with other technicians on troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and product knowledge

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a full‑time Diesel Truck Technician to work on complete tractor and trailer repairs including truck engine, power train, and chassis in a shop environment at our Altoona branch. Hours: M-F, 7:30-4:00.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00 Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair complete tractor and trailer including truck engine, power train, and chassis
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications:

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant truck and trailer repair experience preferred (including engine, brakes, suspension, and alignment)
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Federal inspection knowledge preferred
• Able to drive equipment
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Minimum Physical Requirements:

• Push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping - able to use bolt box.
