Job description

The Technician Trainer - Tier II organizes and conducts classroom and lab training for Fleet SPY technicians on Baseline 9C and BMD, supporting maintenance and operation of the SPY Radar System. Develops, tests, maintains, and delivers training programs and related materials to meet Surface Combat Systems Training Command ATRC objectives. Teaches approved course content and objectives. Conducts dynamic assessments of sailors' abilities to follow maintenance and operational procedures, providing formal performance appraisals with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency.

Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews and analyzes U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System capabilities, limitations, and operational/tactical doctrine; integrates and conceptualizes doctrine to optimize the application of ship's combat systems in dynamic operational environments.
  2. Observes and assesses peers during practice and certification, teaching as per NAVEDTRA 135 requirements.
  3. Prepares, reviews, and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides for classroom teaching.
  4. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria to evaluate training effectiveness.
  5. Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
  6. Supports curriculum updates to ensure content remains current and relevant.
  7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Seven (7) years of experience with the system (ASW/ASUW) in roles such as Anti-Submarine Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC) or supervisor, with responsibility for teaching related systems or tasks in an advanced training environment.
  2. At least one (1) year of experience as a Navy instructor, including presentation skills, curriculum maintenance, learning objectives development, testing, and student counseling.
  3. Required: RSC qualification and NEC 1387/V70A; consideration may be given to NEC V43A, V16A, V04A, or V71A.
  4. Ability to support training with extended periods on your feet; travel up to 10% may be required. Experience with SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU is a plus.

Security Requirement:

  • Must currently possess a Secret Security clearance; interim clearances are not acceptable.

Desired Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, or military experience.
