This position is responsible for manual work of a routine nature that involves heavy physical labor as a member of the streets department crew. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Streets Manager.
The Streets Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks work in progress and reviews completed work for the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines include City codes, departmental and safety policies and procedures, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting of objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds, moving in areas of difficult or dangerous access. The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions.
This position is responsible for the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, right of ways, and the storm drain systems throughout the city, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all customers and citizens, and a positive public image for the City.

The work is typically performed with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, and bending, crouching or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
The work is typically performed outdoors. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, irritating chemicals, machinery with moving parts, and occasional inclement weather. This work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles or gloves. This work may require employees to be called in after hours in the event of a emergency.

The City of Villa Rica is prepared to cover some relocation costs for out of state candidates in addition to assisting with temporary housing for a specific period until permanent housing is secured.
