Job summary

Eos Energy Storage is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and support our commercial BESS systems, including third‑party products. You will perform on‑site visits, remote support, and training for customers across North America and internationally.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze Eos commercial BESS and third‑party products in the field, remotely via email, telephone, and AR remote support tools, and on site visits.
• Utilize company‑provided Field Service and Work Order Management tools to retrieve and update information timely and accurately.
• Write reports, train customers, and respond to customers’ concerns regarding system functionality and performance.
• Develop detailed knowledge of Eos’ commercial products and third‑party products sold by Eos.
• Perform acceptance and performance testing, troubleshooting, installation, startups, shutdowns, commissioning, and turnarounds of BESS.
• Work regularly with high‑voltage DC electricity, three‑phase power, and relevant BESS software.
• Stand in as site lead when needed, providing leadership and guidance to FSTs and third‑party contractors.
• Provide detailed reporting for Engineers and Managers—daily site activities, equipment status, troubleshooting efforts, and performance output.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational protocols.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to work independently, proactively, and with minimal supervision, collaborating with Field Service Engineers.
• Ability to communicate challenges forthrightly and accurately.
• Solid computer skills: Windows, Office, basic programming; PLC and controls experience a plus.
• Aware of electrical, crane, forklift, and construction work safety.
• Understanding of DC electrical systems and controls.
• Proficiency in using electrical voltage meters and testing equipment.
• Exceptional communication skills; ability to lead by example and influence.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally; work at field installations up to 100% of working time for up to three weeks.
• Ability to work at great heights, in extreme environments, perform prolonged repetitive duties, and lift at least 50 pounds frequently.
• Attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of field experience in Electrical/Electronics/Power electronics or network communications recommended.
• Trade or vocational college focus on electrical work, renewable energy, or electronics preferred.
• Prior renewable industry experience, preferably energy storage, strongly preferred.
• Experience in applied problem‑solving methodology.
• Electrical safety training (NFPA 70E or similar).
• Medium voltage/substation experience a plus.

Travel and Working Conditions

Travel is 100%: local travel, overnight/North America, and international. The role may involve factory and customer or partner locations such as offices, manufacturing floors, laboratories, and construction sites. The worker may be exposed to hazards including moving mechanical parts, vibration, vehicles, electrical current, temperature changes, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, dust, mists, and gases. Noise levels can be loud. Close visual acuity is required for tasks such as data analysis, computer use, reading, visual inspection of small defects, machine operation, and use of measurement devices. Machinery operation requires eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and lab coats. Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally may be required.
