Job summary

Lassonde Pappas & Co., Inc. in Hendersonville, NC is seeking a Sanitization Technician I to perform sanitation operations and support food safety and quality programs. The role reports to the Sanitation Supervisor in a plant built to meet SQF and GMP standards.

The starting wage is $22 per hour, with a $0.50 per hour shift differential for second shift. The position requires adherence to PPE and safety guidelines and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete and maintain Lassonde Pappas Forklift Certification.
• Ability to Read and Write.
• Work in a safe manner following all PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation tasks (Master Cleaning Schedule).
• Follow all sanitation safety and food safety guidelines.
• Support Production CIP processes.
• Complete all associated documents related to task per facility requirements.
• Work with chemicals to complete cleaning.
• Operate PIT equipment.
• Operate cleaning equipment.
• Taste test products as needed, up to a couple of ounces per test.

All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations, and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA) and food safety and food quality (FDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

FREQUENT

Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in the area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

OCCASIONAL

Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

VISION

Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

HEARING

Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
