Position Summary

The Roll-Off Driver is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting waste from sewer plants to landfill sites. Roll-Off Drivers will navigate alleyways, lots, high traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on industrial routes. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate Roll-Off vehicle to and from job sites and WRE locations
2. Provide effective communication between customers and Wind River Environmental
3. Prepare for each service job to maximize efficiency (get truck ready, tools, etc.)
4. Drive truck to and from job site, following all traffic laws
5. Respond to trouble/emergency calls in a timely manner
6. Follow all Wind River Environmental service protocols
7. Must be able to work overtime including weekends and holidays
8. Must be able to work on-call rotations as needed
9. Must comply with all FMCSA and DOT regulations
10. Must practice safe work methods to remain accident and injury free. Must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
11. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job
12. Other duties as assigned by management

Work Environment

1. You are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, non-hazardous fumes, and noise
2. Must be comfortable working independently
3. Interaction with customers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Ability to read and interpret documents including Company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps, and road signs.
2. Ability to speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
3. Ability to work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines.
4. Basic computer literacy including email and internet skills.

Required Qualifications

1. Must have a valid CDL B driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
2. At least 1 year of professional commercial driving experience (post-school)
3. Ability to successfully pass DOT drug screen, medical certification, physical exam, and road exams
4. Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace
5. Must be able to meet physical demands evaluation
6. Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
7. High-School Diploma or GED required
