Job Description

Primary Role: The primary role is the technical processing of biospecimens in the Penn Medicine BioBank with emphasis on DNA isolations. DNA isolation includes both automated and manual systems and all supporting aspects of DNA isolations. Biospecimens will include blood, tissue, and bodily fluids.

Sample Handling: Responsibilities encompass blood separation, advanced cell gradient, and tissue culture. Under the supervision of the Technical Director and Lab Manager, maintain strict adherence to SOPs, QC, and QA policies consistent with study guidelines as well as ISBER Best Practices.

Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate all aspects of sample inventory and distribution.
  2. Provide special handling and processing of unusual specimens.
  3. Monitor freezer conditions and rotate on-call freezer response.
  4. Ship biological specimens.
  5. Maintain record keeping, equipment maintenance/calibration, and safety compliance in the lab.

Candidates must have good communication skills.
