Job summary

Mark Anthony Group in Columbia, SC is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform routine lab and packaging analyses on raw materials, in-process and finished products to ensure quality. You will work with Alcolyzer, DMA, pH meters, GC, HPLC and other equipment, maintain SOPs, and support safety and food safety programs in a fast-paced beverage environment.

A high school or associate degree is required, with 1+ year of lab or beverage manufacturing experience preferred; willingness to work

Qualifications

  • High School or Associate degree is required.
  • Laboratory and/or beverage manufacturing experience in food/carbonated beverage/alcohol preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends/holidays.
  • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices, including sample prep, handling and record keeping.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work while multitasking.
  • Demonstrate motivation and a good work ethic under minimal supervision.
  • Must work effectively in team environments.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications, including Excel, Microsoft Office, and Word.
  • Statistical process control skills and use of statistical analysis software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analysis and provide timely and accurate data to all departments.
  • Evaluate finished goods quality and audit processes throughout production to ensure all specs are met and plant is operating within desired parameters.
  • Proficient in Good Lab Practices, keeping a clean and safe laboratory.
  • Proficient in Good Documentation Practices throughout the laboratory and all other departments.
  • Learn and understand processes throughout the facility to troubleshoot and disposition holds.
  • Assist in managing non-conforming products and escalations with Quality Manager approval.
  • Help develop quality information records and display data clearly.
  • Follow all SOPs and established workflows.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment such as Alcolyzer, DMA, pH meters, titrations, GC, HPLC, spectrophotometer.
  • Prioritize work to limit downtime and keep operations moving.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and internet-based applications.
  • Support laboratory inventory and the Sensory Program if trained.
  • Participate in Safety and Food Safety Programs.

Role Purpose

The Laboratory Technician will perform routine lab and packaging analysis on raw materials samples, product samples, both in-process and finished, to ensure quality and specifications are sustained. The Laboratory Technician works with a high attention to detail and a sense of urgency in a fast‑paced environment. This role will work closely with all departments, particularly Brewing and Packaging. The Laboratory Technician will operate and maintain various lab equipment/instrumentation along with following all laboratory SOPs.

Accountabilities & Impact
  • Perform routine analysis and provide timely and accurate data to all departments.
  • Evaluate finished goods quality and audit processes throughout production to ensure all specs are met and plant is operating within desired parameters.
  • Proficient in Good Lab Practices, keeping a clean and safe laboratory.
  • Proficient in Good Documentation Practices throughout the laboratory and all other departments.
  • Learn and understand processes throughout the facility to better assist with troubleshooting, determining root cause, isolating and dispositioning holds.
  • Assist in managing non-conforming products, including escalations, to ensure they are not released without further analysis and Quality Manager approval.
  • Help to develop quality information records and display data clearly and effectively.
  • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures and established workflows.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment/instrumentation, not limited to Alcolyzer, DMA, pH meters, titrations, GC, HPLC, spectrophotometer, etc.
  • Skillful with following procedures on how to properly use, clean, and verify instrumentation.
  • Prioritize work in a fast-paced environment to limit downtime and keep operations moving.
  • Proficient in general computer skills such as email, Excel, Word and using internet-based applications.
  • Support laboratory inventory.
  • Support the Sensory Program if trained and approved.
  • Participate in the Safety Programs to ensure safe operations for yourself and peers.
  • Participate in the Food Safety Program to ensure product integrity and food safety.
Skills & Experiences Needed
