Job summary

Baptist Sleep Center in Columbus, MS is seeking a skilled polysomnographic technician to perform basic sleep testing under the supervision of the clinical director. You will verify patient information, enter admission data into the HBO system, and may supervise staff.

Overtime and callbacks may be required. Qualification includes BRPT eligibility/credentials, an associate degree with polysomnography focus or a 1-year polysomnography program, and ACLS/BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist or BRPT-eligible in Sleep.
  • Requires an associate degree with polysomnography emphasis or a 1-year polysomnography program.
  • Certification as BRPT RPSGT or equivalent is required or pursued.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs and determine testing parameters with the ordering physician or lab protocols.
  • Oversees and performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
  • Follows procedural protocols and demonstrates the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.
  • Completes assigned goals and reports to the Sleep Center Director; may supervise other staff.

Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registry Eligible in Sleep and must challenge the BRPT Exam of hire/transfer to be eligible to remain in the PSG II job classification. If the candidate has previous sleep experience and is eligible to take the exam upon hire, he/she must challenge the next available exam date and and pass the exam to remain a PSG II Technician. Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography OR Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician AND Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent.
