Job description

Join us as a Technician, Plant Operator I (Night Shift) at Wind River Environmental

We are seeking a dedicated individual to operate and maintain sewage, FOG, sludge waste processing, and disposal equipment in our septic and wastewater treatment plant, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role also involves reporting and clerical duties related to plant operations.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing total plant operations as a plant operator.
  • Preparing monthly reports and ordering chemicals.
  • Working independently within established procedures.
  • Monitoring control panels and adjusting plant operations accordingly.
  • Interpreting instrument, meter, and gauge readings to control processes.
  • Operating equipment for receiving, headworks, chemical addition, filtering, sludge processing, etc.
  • Maintaining detailed logs of operations and events.
  • Conducting routine laboratory tests such as TSS, COD, pH.
  • Ensuring proper functioning of pumps, valves, and other equipment.
  • Monitoring equipment for potential failures and making minor repairs or adjustments.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, SOPs, and maintenance instructions.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Competence in calculating volumes, dosing ratios, and applying basic algebra and geometry.
  • Experience in routine wet lab testing.
  • Certification in confined space entry and forklift operation is preferred or will be required.
Minimum requirements:
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and physical exam.
  • Strong mechanical and process understanding, including pumps, valves, and hydraulics.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
