Job summary

Baptist is seeking a dedicated nursing assistant to support patient care in Jackson, MS. Under the direction of a registered nurse, you will perform essential patient care tasks and help maintain a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment for patients and families.

Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, patient transport, and assistance with discharge coordination. A 1-year recent patient care background and appropriate certifications with BLS within 14 days are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year recent experience in patient care.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA/AEMT/Paramedic or MA certification with BLS within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with the professional registered nurse.
• Performs patient care tasks under the direction of the RN including vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, venous compression devices.
• Performs basic patient care services under the direction of the RN including height & actual weights, intake & output, retrieval of equipment & supplies, stocks patient rooms.
• Maintains a conducive environment for the patient including clutter free rooms, removing linen/trash from rooms, quiet surroundings.
• Supports patient/family communication needs including answering call lights, orienting new patients to the room, assisting with discharge appointments.
• Promotes safety including assisting with patient mobility, safety rounds/4Ps.
• Promotes comfort including providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets, assistance with meals.
• Transports non-monitored patients.
• Assists RN with monitored and/or intubated transports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
