Job summary

Riverside Medical Clinic in Riverside, CA seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to perform visual field testing and support patient care in a busy ophthalmology practice.

You will ensure chart readiness, operate the Field Analyzer, document test results, and assist clinicians with patient flow while maintaining COA and BLS certifications.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience: High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years ophthalmology/optometry group experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required and COA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure chart readiness prior to patient visit.
  • Neutralize patient’s glasses and set prescription into Field Analyzer.
  • Instruct patients on and administer visual field tests; record results.
  • Complete charting and ensure doctor has seen results and discussed abnormal results with patient.
  • Schedule return appointments when needed and conduct follow-up.
  • Enter ICD-9 codes on patient charges.
  • Occasional filing and follow-up of lab/x-ray reports.
  • Maintain COA and BLS Certification.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing visual field testing.

8:30am-5:30pm

Essential Functions

  • Ensure chart readiness prior to patient visit.
  • Neutralize patient’s glasses and set prescription into Field Analyzer.
  • Instruct patients on and administer visual field tests. Record information in patient’s chart.
  • Complete charting and ensure doctor has seen results and discussed abnormal results with patient. Conduct follow-up with patient if results are normal, and schedule return appointments.
  • Complete patient charge tickets. Enter ICD-9 Code based on physician’s diagnosis.
  • Occasional filing and/or follow-up tracking of lab and x-ray reports.
  • Maintain COA and BLS certification.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to two years ophthalmology/ optometry group experience preferred. CPR certification required and COA required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification and current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.
