Job Description

JOB POSITION: Technician - Nuclear

Are you interested in becoming an experienced Overhead Crane Service Technician and working in the Nuclear Power Industry? Join Konecranes, one of the world's largest material handling companies. We are seeking skilled individuals with electrical and mechanical expertise, comfortable working at extreme heights. Our service technicians, the heart of our industry, thrive in a safety-first environment. You'll troubleshoot crane control systems, address crane issues, and collaborate with clients and facility directors to meet service needs across the United States. International travel is also possible!

Principal Responsibilities:
  1. Perform maintenance, repairs, modernization, and installation activities on electric overhead traveling cranes at a nuclear power plant.
  2. Perform nuclear access training and qualification training as required.
  3. Travel away from home for extended periods to support the job. Estimated travel away from home is 75-90% of the year.
  4. Conduct extensive on-site electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting to determine causes of equipment malfunction and establish necessary repairs using visual inspection, test procedures, and appropriate test equipment. Document findings and make corrective recommendations to the home office, including a safety summary if appropriate. Complete and submit all required checklists and forms, obtaining customer signatures for acceptance.
  5. Read, understand, and apply all relevant industry codes and regulations, such as OSHA, ASME, NOG, ANSI, CMAA, HMI. Refresh and update knowledge periodically.
  6. Complete service reports and other documentation professionally, accurately, and legibly, submitting them in a timely manner.
  7. Maintain regular communication with the service office and Service Manager.
  8. Maintain all company-issued equipment and assets in safe working order. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles responsibly, reporting deficiencies.
  9. Follow all safety rules and procedures, including those of the customer.
  10. Keep company uniforms and equipment clean and presentable.
  11. Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma required; an Associate degree in Industrial Electrical and/or Mechanical Technology or related field is preferred, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience involving electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair. Some electronic experience is beneficial but not necessary. Prior crane experience is a plus but not required.

Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Willingness to work off the ground, pass background checks for access to nuclear facilities, and work extended travel. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, with occasional lifts up to 75 lbs and rare lifts up to 100 lbs. Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, overhead reaching, and exposure to heat, cold, noise, and heights are expected.

This is a safety-sensitive position.
