Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital seeks a Medical Assistant for NYP Medical Group Brooklyn – Urology. The role supports diagnostic procedures, specimen handling, and patient prep in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Preferred candidates hold Medical Assistant Certification and have at least one year of MA experience. Bilingual skills (Mandarin/Cantonese, Spanish or Russian) are a plus. On-site work is required at Brooklyn location with normal day shift hours.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Bilingual Mandarin/Cantonese, Spanish or Russian preferred.
• On-site presence required; live within commutable distance to NYP.

Responsibilities

• Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles and maintain a sterile field.
• Prepare, collect, and arrange for disposition of specimens; maintain stock for examination and blood drawing rooms.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary and therapeutic environment; assist in equipment maintenance and patient care activities.

Responds to inquiries politely and promptly. Refers matters outside scope of own duties to appropriate others as necessary, keeping patients and other informed as needed. Observes patients conditions, reports abnormal conditions to physician and records appropriate documentation in patient’s records. Measures and records patient height and weight, performs routine blood pressure readings, takes pulse. Draws blood from patients and/or performs finger sticks and obtains other specimens as requested by physician. Will need to obtain authorizations for radiologic procedures and medications.

Technician Medical Surgical - NYP Medical Group Brooklyn – Urology

Assists with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Prepares, collects and arranges for disposition of specimens. Maintains stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc. Notifies appropriate others to order depleted stock. Maintains a safe, sanitary and therapeutic environment for patient care; assists in the cleaning and maintenance of technical equipment used in patient care and utility room; reports equipment requiring repairs to appropriate others. May answer telephones and issue appointments as needed. Performs other job-related duties as required. This is a full time (Monday through Friday- with varied hours 9am-5pm) position at NYP Medical Group Brooklyn

Preferred Criteria

• Medical Assistant Certification
• One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Bilingual preferred: Mandarin/Cantonese or Spanish or Russian
