Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform clearly defined tests and report results, ensuring accurate patient outcomes. You will work assigned shifts with overtime and callbacks as required.

Responsibilities include receiving and prioritizing specimens, performing procedures, quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and correct patient identification to minimize errors. Clinical lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent military training.
• National certification appropriate to state/federal regulations and obtained within six months of hire.

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred/Desired Experience

Clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Minimum Required Education

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited MLT program, or successful completion of at least a 50 week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist

Minimum Required Special Skills

Basic computer literacy.

Minimum Required Licensure

National certification in concordance with current federal and/or state regulations. Full certification must be obtained within six months of hire date.
