Basic Job Functions:
- Assist in the installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues, and identify or implement system improvements to achieve throughput, yield, and product performance goals.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician I, or 3 years First Solar Technical experience, or 10 years technical experience in manufacturing.
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline with at least 1 year as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician I, or 2 years First Solar Technical Experience, or at least 3 years technical experience in manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 0-2 years technical experience in manufacturing.
- Safety-first mindset.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and solving problems on the manufacturing line.
- Proficiency in electrical/electronic and mechanical systems.
- Ability to respond to SPC alarms to control processes.
- Self-directed with minimal supervision.
- Ability to apply statistical tools to analyze data and draw conclusions.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to handle both administrative and technical tasks.
- Assist with critical process alignment of laser systems and scribe parameters.
- Follow PM procedures for all laser systems and ensure completion of PMs.
- Operate daily measurement routines on “Microvu” optical comparator and adjust lasers as needed.
- Monitor production line lasers to ensure product quality and serve as the point of contact for laser issues.
- Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs.
- Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
- Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements, develop methods to determine causes of yield excursions.
- Set up and maintain gauges.
- Ensure processes run according to the Process Control Plan.
- Respond to SPC alarms and bring processes back into control.
- Execute planned process experiments, analyze data, and report results.
- Collect data on tool and product performance.
- Provide training to production associates.
- Develop and update documentation including drawings, SOPs, and process specs.
- Interface with internal teams and suppliers to complete projects.
- Develop understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
- Maintain effective communication with production and engineering teams.
- DisposNon-conforming products per criteria (NCP).
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping.
- Properly discard waste materials and manage hazardous waste containers.
- Ensure all year’s goals are represented through activities.
- Include “Other duties as assigned” and “Job description subject to change at any time.”
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to: Group Lead, Manufacturing Engineering
- No direct reports.
Travel:
- 0% - 5% as needed for training or other reasons.
