Job summary

Northland Controls is seeking a Technician to support the installation, testing, and commissioning of integrated electronic security systems. Working alongside experienced project teams, you will help deliver high-quality installations while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client and Northland standards.

This role is ideal for someone with hands‑on installation experience who enjoys working in the field and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of installation or field service experience.
  • Experience installing electronic security systems, including access control and CCTV.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, and related infrastructure.
  • Test equipment following installation to verify proper system performance.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and installation documentation.
  • Follow Northland Controls' installation standards, procedures, and safety requirements at all times.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and on time, including service reports, vehicle logs, time records, and other project documentation.
  • Communicate project progress, delays, and changing site conditions to the Lead Technician or Project Manager.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of work performed, customer requests, assigned tasks, and project activities.
  • Support project schedules by completing assigned work efficiently and within estimated installation phases.
  • Assist with system startup, commissioning, project closeout, and client handover.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to deliver successful installations.
  • Mentor Installers and less experienced Technicians as opportunities arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical training in electronics, electrical systems, telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of installation or field service experience.
  • Experience installing electronic security systems, including access control and CCTV, is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Valid driver's license, where required.
