Job summary

Barry Callebaut is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for our Americas manufacturing facility in California. The role focuses on electrical and mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and supporting operators with adjustments and setups.

Candidates should have at least 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing, read manuals and diagrams, and work under strict safety standards in environments up to 100F-120F.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and understand manuals, line diagrams and schematics.
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Observe all safety, sanitation, GMP and HACCP requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems on equipment.
• Demonstrate troubleshooting capabilities on control systems, pumps, motors, HMIs, and PLCs.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks as necessary, with emphasis on high technical expertise.
• Assist in day-to-day support of operators for adjustments, setups, and changeovers.

• Observe all safety, sanitation, GMP and HACCP requirements
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems on equipment.
• Demonstrate troubleshooting capabilities on control systems, pumps, motors, HMIs, and PLCs on complex process and packaging equipment.
• Perform various equipment preventive maintenance tasks as necessary, but routinely in cases requiring advanced technical expertise
• Assist in day-to-day support of operators for adjustments, setups, and change overs
• Participate in mandatory training sessions.
• Keep the area, tools and equipment in your care clean and tidy.
• Review documentation for maintenance activity using the maintenance database, adequately communicate maintenance issues to appropriate employees (e.g., other maintenance techs, operators, engineers, supervisors, etc.), and properly utilize the maintenance inventory system.

About you:

• Minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing experience, required
• Food manufacturing experience, preferred
• Vocational school, Industrial maintenance degree, technical college training, satisfactory completion of formal apprentice program, preferred
• Ability to read and understand manuals, line diagrams and schematics, required
• Ability to identify and analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, required
• High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances, required
• High degree of attention and care required preventing injury to others with responsibility for flow of electrical power
• Exposed to voltages up to 480.
• Good organization, math, written and oral communication, detail orientated, interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, must work autonomously with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to work in areas with temperatures of 100F-120F
