Job Summary:

St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, a vibrant Catholic community in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep, safety, and functionality of parish and school buildings and grounds. The Maintenance Technician will perform a wide range of tasks including routine maintenance, basic repairs, janitorial duties, and seasonal upkeep to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all who visit or work on campus.

Job Responsibilities

General Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems.
• Complete minor repairs on building structures, fixtures, and equipment.
• Identify and report issues requiring external contractors or specialized repair.
  
  

Custodial Duties

• Assist with cleaning tasks in buildings and restrooms as needed.
• Ensure common areas, classrooms, hallways, and worship spaces are clean and orderly.
• Manage trash removal, recycling, and basic pest control.
  
  

Grounds & Seasonal Maintenance

• Maintain outdoor grounds including mowing, trimming, snow removal, and de-icing of walkways.
• Set up and tear down for parish and school events, including moving furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  
  

Safety & Compliance

• Monitor facilities for safety hazards and make corrections as necessary.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Archdiocesan and local safety policies.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and maintenance records in an organized and secure manner.
  
  

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in building maintenance, facility management, or skilled trades preferred.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and janitorial practices.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass a background check and complete all Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment requirements.
