Job summary

Centerra Gold's Thompson Creek Mine in Idaho is seeking a Lab Technician to support safe and efficient laboratory testing, determining the chemical and physical characteristics of samples for quality and process control.

You will perform pre-shift inspections, prepare diverse samples, handle hazard awareness, and maintain LAB data with a focus on safety and accuracy. The role offers scope for professional development within the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Excellent safety record.
• Ability to work rotating schedules.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment, as well as independently.
• Support zero-incident safety culture and take personal accountability for safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-shift work area inspections.
• Prepare samples for assay including blast hole, core, concentrator slurry, and product lot, mill, mine and metallurgical samples.
• Low grade sample preparation and hazard awareness including respiratory hazards, audiometric hazards, LOT and 480 switch gear.
• General understanding of laboratory information management system and sample entry including weighing and weight validation.
• Practical understanding of chemical hygiene.
• Mill composite sample collection and hazard awareness.
• Disposes of sample rejects, solvents and other waste material.
• May work various shift schedules to provide control sample assays.
• Performs spill response procedures.
• May be assigned other duties.

AboutThompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mineuses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Minepromotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Technician, Lab to join our Thompson Creek team. In this role you will be responsible for assisting the safe and efficient laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality and process control.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform pre-shift work area inspections
• Prepare samples for assay including but not limited to blast hole, core, concentrator slurry, and product lot, mill, mine and metallurgical samples.
• Low grade sample preparation and associated hazard awareness including but not limited respiratory hazards, audiometric hazards, LOT and 480 switch gear.
• General understanding of laboratory information management system and sample entry including weighing and weight validation.
• Practical understanding of chemical hygiene.
• Mill composite sample collection-mill hazard awareness and general plant process flow.
• Disposes of sample rejects, solvents and other waste material.
