Job summary

Perrigo Corporation seeks an Instrumentation Technician to support calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of process instrumentation across manufacturing, packaging, utilities, laboratories, and facilities.

The role ensures activities comply with safety, quality, food safety, cGMP, FDA, and regulatory requirements while supporting reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Automation, Process Control, or related discipline.
  • Equivalent industrial experience in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, verification, adjustment, repair, and preventive maintenance of instrumentation and measurement devices.
  • Execute scheduled calibration and maintenance work through CMMS and approved maintenance systems.
  • Maintain calibration standards, traceability records, labels, certificates, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, electrical, automation, and process control issues to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Perform loop checks, signal verification, functional testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
  • Support investigations related to calibration failures, out-of-tolerance conditions, deviations, CAPAs, and MOC activities.
  • Maintain instrument asset information, equipment histories, and calibration records within CMMS and quality systems.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Reliability, Quality, Validation, and EHS teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participate in RCA, continuous improvement initiatives, predictive maintenance programs, and asset care strategies.
  • Support equipment upgrades, automation projects, FAT/SAT activities, and new equipment installations.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on instrumentation best practices.
  • Support plant shutdowns, critical maintenance activities, and on-call coverage as required.

Description Overview

The Instrumentation Technician supports the site's Instrumentation and Asset Reliability programs through the calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of process instrumentation, control systems, and measurement devices across manufacturing, packaging, utilities, laboratories, warehouse, and facility support systems.

This role ensures instrumentation activities are performed in compliance with applicable safety, quality, food safety, cGMP, FDA, and regulatory requirements while supporting equipment reliability, process performance, and operational excellence.

Scope of the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, verification, adjustment, repair, and preventive maintenance of instrumentation and measurement devices.
  • Execute scheduled calibration and maintenance work through CMMS and approved maintenance systems.
  • Maintain calibration standards, traceability records, labels, certificates, and audit-ready documentation.

  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), continuous improvement initiatives, predictive maintenance programs, and asset care strategies.
  • Support equipment upgrades, automation projects, FAT/SAT activities, and new equipment installations.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on instrumentation best practices.
  • Support plant shutdowns, critical maintenance activities, and on-call coverage as required.

  • Pressure, temperature, flow, and level instrumentation
  • Analytical instruments
