Job summary

Nikon AM Synergy Inc. is seeking a Technician III, EHS to support the EHS Manager in implementing and improving Environmental, Health, and Safety programs within a complex aerospace manufacturing environment.

You will manage hazardous waste, assist with electrical safety and high-voltage programs, and oversee crane and equipment safety while ensuring regulatory compliance and incident investigations are thoroughly handled.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of experience in EHS or related technical field, preferably in aerospace or industrial manufacturing.
• High school diploma or GED; a higher degree is preferred (EHS, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene).
• Strong knowledge of hazardous waste management, including RCRA and chemical safety.
• Working knowledge of high-voltage electrical safety; NFPA 70E familiarity preferred.
• Experience with cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial vehicles.
• Ability to read and apply safety regs, codes, and standards.
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required; eligible for DoD security clearance.

Position Overview

The Technician III, EHS supports the EHS Manager in implementing, maintaining, and improving the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. This lead-level role manages day-to-day EHS operations and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Key focus areas include hazardous metal and chemical waste management, high-voltage electrical safety, crane and lift safety, and facility-wide risk reduction within a complex aerospace manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Hazardous Waste & Chemical Safety

• Manage hazardous metal and chemical waste programs, including labeling, storage, accumulation areas, manifesting, and coordination with vendors.
• Conduct required hazardous waste inspections and maintain compliant storage areas.
• Support environmental monitoring activities related to air, water, waste streams, and sustainability efforts.

Electrical Safety & High-Voltage Support

• Assist with electrical safety programs involving 480V systems and a 4000A building service.
• Verify lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance and support energized work permitting.
• Perform routine inspections of high-voltage equipment zones to ensure compliance.

Crane, Lift, and Equipment Safety

• Oversee safety requirements for cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial equipment.
• Track certifications, schedule inspections, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Conduct routine inspections of production and mechanical areas for safe equipment operation.

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

• Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and aerospace industry standards.
• Prepare and assist with permit applications, regulatory inventories, and compliance submissions (e.g., CERS/EDV).
• Assist in preparing and submitting required biannual reports and other regulatory documents.

Incident Response & Emergency Preparedness

• Participate in or lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification.
• Support emergency response readiness including spill response, evacuation drills, first aid, and high-voltage incident procedures.

Health, Medical Response & First Aid

• Respond to workplace medical incidents within the scope of training (first aid, CPR, AED).
• Maintain facility AEDs, first aid kits, and emergency medical supplies.
• Support injury response, incident documentation, and coordination with supervisors and HR.
• Assist in post-incident follow-up, including escorting injured employees to medical evaluations when required by company policy.
• Participate in emergency drills involving medical response scenarios.
• Monitor workplace conditions that may pose health risks (chemical exposure, heat stress, noise levels) and communicate necessary controls.

Training & Documentation

• Maintain accurate EHS records, permits, SDS files, inspection logs, and compliance reports.
• Conduct or coordinate EHS training for employees and contractors.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for daily EHS issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
• Work with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
• Recommend and implement practical improvements that enhance safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or a related technical field, preferably in aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or chemical-handling environments.
• High school diploma or GED required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous waste management, including RCRA requirements, chemical safety, and applicable environmental compliance standards.
• Working knowledge of high-voltage electrical safety; familiarity with NFPA 70E is preferred.
• Experience working with cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial vehicles.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety regulations, codes, standards, and technical documentation.
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and provide leadership and guidance in daily EHS operations.
• U.S. Citizenship required. Must be eligible to hold or maintain a DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour certification.
• HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification.
• NFPA 70E or equivalent electrical safety training.
• Other relevant EHS, environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, or technical certifications.
