Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a Technician III in Greensboro, NC. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7AM–5PM with overtime eligible. Pay starts at $32/hr and can exceed $37/hr depending on experience, plus quarterly bonus incentives.

Position requires at least 3 years of diesel mechanic experience on heavy construction equipment or rental fleets, with expertise in hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and engine repairs, including Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems. Tools and safety come first.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic on heavy construction equipment or rental fleet.
• Advanced repairs of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel/gas engines.
• Experience with Tier 4 engines and aftertreatment systems (DPF, SCR, DEF, EGR).
• Proficient in preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs.
• Must have own tools for equipment repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs on gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains on equipment and trucks.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions; repair and test equipment.
• Perform basic welding (MIG/SMAW).
• Inspect, service, and test equipment to manufacturer specs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.

Position Requirements

• You should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a background in heavy construction equipment or rental required.
• Advanced experience with major & minor repairs of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel and gas engines on construction equipment and delivery fleet.
• Experience with Tier 4 engines and DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR aftertreatment systems is highly preferred.
• Extensive experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing heavy equipment repairs.
• Must have the necessary tools you need to perform the scope of equipment repairs.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications.
• Advanced understanding of schematics, computer diagnostic software, and welding methods.
• Diesel laptop experience is required.
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and efficient time management techniques
• Successfully manage multiple priorities concurrently, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
• Safety oriented, maintaining industry and Sunstate safety standards performing equipment repairs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repairs on gas and diesel engines, complex hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains to include manual and power shift transmissions on equipment and trucks
• Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment
• Perform novice level welding repairs (MIG & SMAW)
• Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications
• Perform routine service on equipment which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluid and lubricating
• Prepare/maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment, including warranty records
