Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Sylmar, CA is seeking a skilled Service Technician for the Cardiac Rhythm Management division to perform root-cause analysis, upgrades, and testing of medical device hardware. You will assemble and test components, document work on service reports, and support regulatory requirements.

The role requires at least 2 years of relevant experience, strong troubleshooting, and ability to lift 30 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds overhead.
  • Mechanical assembly and tool use.
  • Soldering and fiber optic splicing a plus.
  • Experience in a medical device company preferred.
  • Occasional overtime required.

Responsibilities

  • Process Return Material Authorization (RMA) receiving equipment into the Service Depot.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, repair, upgrades and testing of product and systems that return from the field, documenting all work on Service Reports.
  • Complete all necessary service documentation required for returned product.
  • Assist in maintaining organization within the Service Depot.
  • Maintain inventory levels and provide inventory counts when required.
  • Provide assistance in the authorizing of technical documents related to the repair, upgrade or testing of returned product.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

The Opportunity

This position works out of the Sylmar, CA location in our Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats. This position is responsible for performing root-cause analysis and upgrades on high quality medical device hardware and systems. This position includes detailed assembly and testing of various electronic components and finished devices.

Main Responsibilities

The base pay for this position is $22.55 – $45.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
