Position: Full Time Tech II, PCU
Critical Care Experience Required
Shift: 6:00am - 6:00pm
Summary:
  • The Technician II is a key member of the patient-family care team in the Emergency Department. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Technician II provides clinical support and customer service, including reception of patients, families, visitors, administrative, clerical, and clinical tasks.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide care and assistance based on customer service and care standards, addressing emotional needs and activities of daily living such as nutrition, hygiene, and elimination.
  • Deliver patient-family centered care considering growth, development, cultural, religious needs, and individual preferences.
  • Support unit initiatives to enhance patient safety and care, such as maintaining a quiet environment, hourly rounds, falls prevention, etc.
  • Accurately process patient care orders, communicate priorities to RNs or relevant departments, and educate patients and families about procedures.
  • Obtain vital signs, body weight, intake/output, and apply cardiac monitoring with troubleshooting as needed.
  • Perform procedures like 12-Lead EKG, blood draws, wound care, and educate about procedures and equipment use.
  • Follow infection control protocols, use PPE, and collect specimens per protocol.
  • Transport and reposition patients safely, communicate effectively with the care team, restock supplies, and maintain equipment.
  • Inventory patient belongings and serve as a preceptor for new employees.
Credentials:
  • Certified Nurse Aid or Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • CPR (must obtain if not held at hire)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Experience at an acute care facility or as a student nurse with hospital clinical experience is preferred.
