Job summary

VPET USA LLC is seeking a Technician II to support our PET bottle production line with maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvement tasks. You will assist the Chief Engineer and management on various projects to improve profitability, safety, and ergonomics.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Process, troubleshoot and repair of all machines and support equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust bottle processes to optimize bottle quality and minimize scrap and maintain quality.
  • Complete preform and bottle changeovers.
  • Become proficient in blow molding and injection equipment operations & troubleshooting.
  • Replace or repair machine parts.
  • Assist with machine installation.
  • Reduce scrap and promote efficient operations of the cycle time.
  • Provide innovative solutions to production problems.
  • Follow start-up and shut-down procedures as required.
  • Preventative Maintenance.
  • Maintain downtime documentation for data collection and daily meetings.

Job description

Job Description Overview

The Technician II supports our PET bottle production line. You will be responsible for machine maintenance including diagnosing and performing preventative and corrective maintenance. This role will be cross‑trained in our Process/Maintenance-Technician Blow Molding role. This position supports process improvement and new technology processes to achieve goals for profitability, safety, and ergonomics. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer and Management team with other projects as assigned.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.

  • Adheres to all instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices and housekeeping procedures.

  • Process, troubleshoot and repair of all machines and support equipment.

  • Monitor and adjust bottle processes to optimize bottle quality and minimize scrap and maintain quality.

  • Complete preform and bottle changeovers.

  • Become proficient in facility-specific blow molder and injection equipment operations & troubleshooting.

  • Replace or Repair machine parts.

  • Assist with machine installation.


Process/Maintenance Technician Responsibilities


  • Reduce scrap and promote efficient operations of the cycle time.

  • Provide innovative and creative solutions to production problems.

  • Follow the complete Start-up and Shut-down procedure as per the Company's and Machine's requirements.

  • Preventative Maintenance.

  • Maintain downtime documentation throughout the shift to support data collection, problem solving and daily meetings.

  • Assists with cross-training technicians and performs tasks such as those listed below: Mold Changes and Mold Cleaning


    • Starting and stopping the injection molding machines

    • Starting and stopping the conveyors

    • Purging out the injection molding machine

    • Changing out and cleaning out the dryer filters

    • Maintenance of the chiller system



Education And/or Experience


  • Experience with industrial processing equipment and infrastructure. Blow molding and injection are preferred.

  • 5-7 years minimum in an industrial setting with processing or maintenance responsibilities.

  • Technical School training in Injection/Blow Molding is preferred.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.


Other Skills And Abilities


  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, identify problems, address problems and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • English skills must be proficient to read, write and communicate.

  • Basic math skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Basic mechanical trouble shooting and repair

  • Basic electrical trouble shooting and repair

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.

  • Understand and comply with applicable OSHA safety rules/regulations and Lock-out/Tag-out requirements.

  • Must be able to become forklift certified within 60 days.


Physical Requirements


  • Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl.

  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.

  • Work environment is in a warehouse and temperatures inside vary between hot or cold based on the outside conditions.
