We are looking for a professional technician in Omaha, NE to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and start‑ups of high voltage substations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear including (but not limited to):
- Protective relaying and relaying systems
- Circuit Breakers
- Power Transformers
- Current and Potential Transformers
- Meters, Transducers, and power system metering
- Power Cables
- Grounding Systems
- Motors and Motor Starters
- Station Batteries and Chargers
- Alarm systems and annunciators
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs.
- Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended.
- Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communication and interfacing with clients.
- Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and scheduling of manpower and equipment.
- Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has zero tolerance for those who do otherwise.
- Perform other job‑related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
- Power DB knowledge a plus.
- Word processing, spreadsheet and e‑mail software proficiency.
- Mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry.
- Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals.
- Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation.
- Broad knowledge of control and protection systems.
- Knowledge of high‑voltage electric field theory.
- Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI).
- Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, ACI).
- Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment.
- Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation.
- Knowledge of drafting standards.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel 50% of the time.
