Job summary

Black Hills Trucking LLC is hiring for a full-time, on-site Diesel Mechanic in Casper, WY. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks and trailers, perform welding and fabrication, and keep records of parts and maintenance while adhering to safety procedures.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and 2+ years of mechanical experience; welding experience and CW certification are preferred. A clean MVR and ability to read manuals are essential, with opportunities for growth within a

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent education with two or more (2+) years of mechanical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• Diesel mechanic or welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Welding Certification (CW) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs welding, fabrication, and other mechanical repairs as needed.
• Inspects, repairs, and maintains trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Keeps work area organized and maintain accurate records of parts and maintenance.
• Works with other technicians and cross-trains as necessary to keep trucks and trailers in continuous operation.
• Observes defective equipment to determine cause; repairs, overhauls, or replaces worn parts; reports major problems.
• Inspect trucks, equipment, and machinery to diagnose defects and verify repairs.
• Handles fuels, lubricants and solvents safely; follows MSDS and disposal rules.
• Keeps work area clean by sweeping, discarding used material properly and storing tools and supplies.
• May be required to operate small vehicles on and off company premises.

What You'll Do:

• Performs welding, fabrication, and other mechanical repairs as needed.
• Inspects, repairs, and maintains trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Keeps work area organized and maintain accurate records of parts and maintenance.
• Works with other technicians and cross-trains as necessary to keep trucks and trailers in continuous operation.
• Observes and listens to defective equipment to determine cause of trouble or nature and extent of equipment damage. Uses discretion in repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts as necessary; reports major problems to supervisor and repairs, overhauls, or replaces parts as directed.
• Inspect trucks, equipment, and machinery to diagnose defects and verify repairs.
• Mixes, utilizes, dispenses, and/or properly disposes of volatile compounds including fuels, lubricants, and solvents; reads and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for any such materials and knows proper handling/disposal requirements for substances requiring specialized handling/disposal.
• Keeps work area clean by sweeping, discarding used material properly and storing tools and supplies.
• May be required to operate small vehicles on and off company premises.

What We're Looking For:

Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Acceptable results of DOT physical.
• English language fluency, verbal and written.
• Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
