Lee County Government is seeking a skilled Utility Locator responsible for accurately locating underground utilities in the service area. This role requires attention to detail, experience with utility locating equipment, and the ability to read utility drawings. Candidates must possess a high school diploma and a valid driver's license.
Locate water lines (1" to 36"), including valves, fire hydrants, meter boxes, and water service lines.
Locate wastewater lines (4" to 30"), including sewer laterals, force mains, manholes, and valves.
Locate reclaimed water lines (3" to 12"), including valves, meters, and service lines.
Locate electric, fiber optic, and chemical lines as needed.
Use a variety of hand tools and electronic locating devices to perform the work safely and accurately.
Follow proper procedures for handling tools and working around underground utilities.
Licensing and Certifications
Skill in using utility locating equipment and interpreting signals correctly.
Ability to read and interpret utility as-built drawings (maps and construction plans).
Ability to manage a high volume of daily tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong time management skills to ensure all assigned locates are completed on schedule.
