Zusammenfassung

IES is hiring a Technician I - Service to perform structured cabling tasks and respond to service calls. This full-time role requires installing outlets, mounting racks and patch panels, and identifying circuits. You will complete all required paperwork and adhere to safety standards.

Minimum 4 years in telecom or related field with high school diploma. Benefits available after 30 days of employment; onsite work in Culver City, CA. Training and safety programs provided.

  • Meet company driving standards.

Aufgaben

  • Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture and wall (CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks).
  • Mount face plates and surface mount boxes; adhere to labeling standards.
  • Build closets: backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware; install grounding.
  • Complete IDC connections (110/66 blocks; patch panels).
  • Test: continuity, volt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot opens, shorts, transpose pairs.
  • Identify active voice or data circuits; troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling.
  • Complete paperwork on time (timesheets, transfers, work orders, change orders).
  • Adhere to company and industry safety standards.

Job Summary:

The Technician I - Service can perform the technical tasks of a Technician II – Structured Cabling. The Technician I - Service will respond to service calls as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. The Technician I - Service will install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards). 2. The Technician I - Service will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels). 3. The Technician I - Service performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable. 4. The Technician I - Service will identify active voice or data circuits. 5. The Technician I - Service will troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling to identify and correct issues. 6. The Technician I - Service will fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required). 7. The Technician I - Service will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations. 8. The Technician I - Service will complete other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Regular attendance is mandatory
  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk very large job sites regularly
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Must have a strong aptitude for independent working environment and high productivity rate
  • Must be available to work on-call as required.
Tools
  • Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.
  • Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must possess a minimum of four (4) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Some knowledge of A/V installation and components preferred.
  • Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Must know the universal communications color codes.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
