Job summary

IES is seeking a Project Lead - Services in culver city to supervise structured cabling projects, respond to service calls, and ensure completion per quality and safety standards. You will lead field staff, coordinate with customers, and drive efficient project execution.

Responsibilities include training, safety meetings, cabling installation, testing, and documentation. Travel within the region and on-call work may be required; strong reading of blueprints and collaboration with management are

Qualifications

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Has a minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Has a minimum of six (6) months supervisory and/or managerial experience.
  • Some knowledge of A/V installation and components a plus.
  • Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Must know the universal communications color codes.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; ensure adherence to safety and quality guidelines; hold weekly safety meetings; elevate to Project Manager if necessary.
  • Install work area outlets and terminate cabling to standards; mount faceplates and boxes; follow labeling standards.
  • Builds closets and racks; install grounding and complete IDC connections.
  • Performs testing, continuity checks, troubleshoot issues in cabling.
  • Identify active voice or data circuits; troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, work orders, transfers).
  • Adhere to company and customer safety and quality standards; complete other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Project Lead - Services can perform the technical tasks of a Project Lead – Structured Cabling. The Project Lead - Services will respond to service calls as needed. The Project Lead - Service’s task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assumes responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; assume responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings; initiate performance related communications and elevate to Project Manager if necessary.
  2. Installs a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to IES Communications’ labeling standards).
  3. Builds closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
  4. Performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable.
  5. Identifies active voice or data circuits.
  6. Troubleshoots fiber and copper cabling to identify and correct issues.
  7. Completes all IES COMMUNICATIONS paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
  8. Adheres to and participates in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
  9. Completes other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk very large job sites regularly.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Must have a strong aptitude for independent working environment and high productivity rate
  • Must be available to work on-call as required.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory

  • Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.

Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
