Job Description Overview:
The Injection Molding Technician supports our PET bottle production line. You will be responsible for machine maintenance to include diagnosing, performing preventative and corrective maintenance. This role will be cross-trained in our Process/Maintenance-Technician Blow Molding role. This position supports process improvement and new technology processes to achieve goals for profitability, safety, and ergonomics. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer and Management team with other projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices, and housekeeping procedures.
- Process, troubleshoot, and repair all machines and support equipment.
- Monitor and adjust bottle processes to optimize quality and minimize scrap.
- Complete preform and bottle changeovers.
- Become proficient in facility-specific blow molder and injection equipment operations & troubleshooting.
- Replace or repair machine parts.
- Assist with machine installation.
Process/Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Reduce scrap and promote efficient operations of the cycle time.
- Provide innovative and creative solutions to production problems.
- Follow the complete start-up and shut-down procedures as per company and machine requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Maintain downtime documentation throughout the shift to support data collection, problem solving, and daily meetings.
- Assist with cross-training technicians and perform tasks such as:
- Mold changes and mold cleaning
- Starting and stopping the injection molding machines
- Starting and stopping the conveyors
- Purging out the injection molding machine
- Changing out and cleaning the dryer filters
- Maintenance of the chiller system
Education and/or Experience:
- Experience with industrial processing equipment and infrastructure; blow molding and injection preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in an industrial setting with processing or maintenance responsibilities.
- Technical school training in Injection/Blow Molding preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, identify problems, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient English skills to read, write, and communicate.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Must be able to operate material handling equipment.
- Must be committed to the success of the entire organization.
- Understand and comply with applicable OSHA safety rules/regulations and Lock-out/Tag-out requirements.
- Must be able to become forklift certified within 60 days.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.
- Work environment is in a warehouse with varying temperatures based on outside conditions.
