Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Part Time Technician I at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. The role supports clinical and administrative medical teams, including taking vitals, assisting physicians, handling specimen collection, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Qualified candidates will hold CMA/EMT/CNA certification and have at least two years of related healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• At least two years of progressively responsible healthcare experience across multiple areas.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood.
• Assists with cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
• Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
• Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider/local pharmacy.

Qualifications

• Valid Certified Medical Assistant ( CMA ), Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ), or Certified Nurse Assistant ( CNA ) certification required.
• At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position

• CPR Certification
• Valid Driver’s License is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
