Technician I, Process Development

Position Summary
The Technician I, Process Development conducts laboratory and pilot‑scale experiments that support the development of new technologies. The role is partially responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes and implementing regulatory requirements, assisting in process development activities, creating scalable processes with improved product yield and reduced manufacturing system costs, researching new methods and technologies to enhance operations, collecting, analyzing, interpreting data to improve processes.
Responsibilities
- The standard schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but employees may frequently be required to work 12‑hour rotating shifts during operational campaigns and manufacturing model runs.
- Conduct lab‑scale studies involving processing of plasma proteins.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot‑scale experiments to evaluate and develop new technologies.
- Operate centrifuges, filtration apparatus, and chromatography systems.
- Use monitoring instruments such as pH/conductivity meters, spectrophotometer, and scale.
- Perform sample and buffer preparation, including labeling.
- Clean equipment and area.
- Complete documentation and data entry for procedures and tests performed.
- Adhere to Safety and cGMP practices.
- Perform testing to generate data for validation and special projects.
- Fulfill requests from management for assistance in other matters.
- Assist in creating scalable processes.
- Assist the manufacturing operations team in problem solving with regard to equipment and systems.
- Participate in the design and start‑up of new manufacturing facilities and equipment.

Education & Experience Requirements
- B.S. in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Up to two years of experience in a laboratory setting; prior experience in a regulated environment (FDA, EPA, etc.) is preferred.
- Capacity to work at small scale and transfer to larger applications.
- Familiarity with basic lab equipment (pH meter, spectrophotometer, scale, pipettes, pumps, etc.).
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, LIMS, etc.).
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external colleagues and managers.
Preferred Experience
- Compliance knowledge: understanding FDA regulations and company policies governing sales, marketing, and documentation. Ability to participate in compliance reviews, report potential issues, and stay updated on relevant regulations.
