Job summary

Catalent’s Madison, Wisconsin site is seeking a Technician I - Facilities, Maintenance to join our team. This role keeps buildings and utilities running, ensuring HVAC, facilities, and related equipment meet safety and regulatory standards.

The position is 100% onsite in Madison, WI, with typical Monday–Friday 8am–5pm shifts. The technician will perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and document work orders while coordinating with production schedules to minimize disruption.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 2+ years relevant experience or Technical/Associate degree in maintenance field.
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a cGMP environment.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to perform general facility repair, maintenance, and upkeep.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to follow SOPs in a regulated environment.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, and other systems).

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and maintenance across office, lab, utility, and cleanroom areas.
  • Maintain HVAC systems, facilities, and utilities in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues in both lab and manufacturing environments.
  • Respond to equipment and facility issues, supporting manufacturing operations as needed.
  • Complete work orders and accurately document all maintenance activities per required practices.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities around cGMP production schedules and operational needs.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours and weekend facility and equipment support.

Located at 726 Heartland Trail in Madison, the approximately 102,700‑square‑foot GMP facility specializes in mammalian cell line engineering, drug substance biomanufacturing, and biopharmaceutical development, utilizing flexible single‑use systems to enable rapid scale‑up and customization. The site is home to Catalent’s proprietary GPEx® and GPEx® Lightning technologies, which are used to generate high‑yielding mammalian cell lines for biologic therapies, and supports production scales ranging from 50 to 4,000 liters for clinical manufacturing. Following a $45 million expansion announced in 2025, the Madison site has significantly increased capacity, added new equipment, and created approximately 200 highly skilled biohealth jobs, further strengthening its role within Catalent’s global biologics network and Wisconsin’s growing life sciences ecosystem.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Technician I - Facilities, Maintenance to join our team. This role focuses on maintaining buildings and utilities that support site activities. The position ensures timely maintenance of HVAC systems, facilities, and associated equipment in line with safety and regulatory standards. The Technician will perform repairs and maintenance across office, lab, utility, and cleanroom areas, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.

Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Location: Madison, WI

The Role

The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Technical or Associate degree in a maintenance-related field
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a cGMP environment
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to perform general facility repair, maintenance, and upkeep
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and Standard Operating Procedures in a regulated environment
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, and other systems)
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to see, hear, read, and write clear English. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading, and computer use. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, carrying, and grasping. Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety responsibilities.
