Education Required:
- At minimum, an Associate's Degree in a Technical or Science Field.
- 1-5 years relevant experience in a technical discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Job Description:
- In the Materials R&D group, the Technician I will be responsible for conducting bench level testing/experiments; writing technical reports; supporting test request work flow; operation of equipment in the materials characterization and testing labs while ensuring compliance with client quality policies.
- The Technician I understands procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles; ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and client safety regulations, policies and procedures.
Project Responsibilities:
- Assists in the execution of materials testing that support sustaining engineering, new product development or technology feasibility testing with supervision.
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory material test results.
- Reports results of experiments to direct manager and materials engineers.
- When necessary prepares technical reports according to an established template.
- Maintains good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Works with the team to organize lab functions; including calibration.
- Has basic understanding of materials characterization capabilities.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- At minimum, an Associate's Degree in a Technical or Science Field.
- 1-5 years relevant experience in a technical discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Experience with material characterization/testing instruments and equipment.
- Training in laboratory safety and procedures.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the operation of mechanical measurement equipment (e.g. Instron) and/or materials characterization capabilities (i.e. FTIR, DSC, TGA) is desirable.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Ability to integrate written and verbal instructions, work under supervision.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge of computer programs, especially Excel.
- Aware of External Regulations (ISO, FDA, OSHA, ASTM).
- Task oriented.
