Job summary

IES is seeking a Technician I - DAS to perform field service functions, installing antennas, repeaters, head-end equipment and other DAS devices at customer sites. You will learn to complete sweep, PIM and fiber testing and work to NEC standards under supervision.

The role requires participation in pre/post install RF readings, cable sweep testing, and coordination with customers. Strong safety awareness and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 0–1 year experience in integrating public safety and cell carrier techs into in-building coverage.
• Certifications from manufacturers and willingness to learn new systems.
• Experience with PIM testing preferred.
• Experience with DAS equipment including Fiber DAS, Repeaters, Coax, CAT5, antennas, splitters, fiber.

Responsibilities

• Install DAS wireless equipment to NEC standards at customer sites.
• Commission and optimize DAS and signal booster equipment for public safety installations.
• Conduct RF signal readings for fire code compliance.
• Perform cable sweep testing with appropriate test gear.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues; document results.
• Travel as required and adhere to safety protocols.

Job Summary:

The Technician I - DAS will be responsible for a variety of field service functions. They will install antennas, repeaters, head‑end equipment and other DAS devices as well as learn how to complete sweep, PIM and fiber testing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Installing DAS wireless equipment using any combination of external and internal antennas, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, CAT 5 cable and other appropriate components to NEC standard at customer job sites.


• Commission and optimize a variety of DAS and signal booster equipment for public safety installations utilizing manufacturer’s procedures and field equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.


• Conduct Pre & Post install RF signal readings per fire code requirements utilizing spectrum analyzer and/or two‑way radios.


• Perform cable sweep testing (VSWR, RL, DTF, PIM) utilizing test equipment.


• Troubleshoot existing systems to identify failures or configuration issues and correct as possible.


• Terminating wall and ceiling mounted components.


• Completing Sweep, PIM and Fiber testing.


• Completing job related documentation and record keeping.


• Communicating and coordinating with Customer and Company related to specific safety, local code and Company installation requirements.


• Will wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Must have proven skill level or the ability to learn to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.


• Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder, lift and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.


• Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.


• Must be able to travel within 50% to 75% in and outside the branch territory as needed.


• Regular attendance is mandatory.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED equivalency


• 0-1 year experience in the processes and requirements of integrating public safety and cell carrier and technologies into an in‑building coverage system


• Possess or obtain certifications from above manufacturers and have the willingness to learn new systems


• Experience with PIM testing preferred


• Experience with common DAS Equipment including Fiber DAS, Repeaters, Coaxial Cable, CAT 5 Cable, Antennas, Splitters, Fiber Cable, etc.


• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner at all job sites


• Ability to think analytically and to solve complex problems


• Strong customer service, communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well on a team
