Job summary

Eurofins USA Genomic Services is hiring a Laboratory Technician I for the Louisville area. The role reports to the Laboratory Manager or Team Lead and involves performing assigned duties with attention to quality and safety, following established procedures and using common lab equipment.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, operating centrifuges, liquid handling systems, and pipettes, and ensuring compliance with the company’s quality system.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • Ability to accurately follow detailed written procedures, SOPs and instructions in a regulated lab environment.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks and high-volume sample processing.
  • Work well in a fast-paced production environment while meeting quality, productivity, and turnaround goals.
  • Proven ability to work with a team with little supervision.

  • Follows safety and regulatory policies, including handling hazardous materials and PPE.
  • May work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
  • Completes on-site training programs timely.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Laboratory Technician I receives sufficient authority from and is accountable to Laboratory Manager or Team Lead for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system or from the procedures for performing tests and/or calibrations, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.

  • Operating lab equipment: centrifuges, automated liquid handlers, pipettes, etc.
  • Maintains accurate production records according to requirements and in compliance with Established Quality System standards.
  • Follows all company safety and regulatory policies, including handling hazardous materials and wearing of proper PPE (personal protective equipment) that are relative to assigned work.
  • Is prepared to work overtime during shifts other than the one assigned or weekends if requested.
  • Completes successfully applicable on-site training programs in a timely manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements
  • Associate degree or coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • Ability to accurately follow detailed written procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and verbal instructions in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive laboratory tasks and processing high volumes of samples.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while consistently meeting quality, productivity, and turnaround time goals.
  • Proven ability to work well with a team with little supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, alternate shifts, weekends, or holidays as operational demands require.
  • Annual RCRA awareness training.
Preferences
  • Previous experience working in an ISO-9000 or cGMP environment.
  • Previous experience working with general laboratory equipment.
  • Microsoft Windows and Excel proficiency.
  • Previous experience working with Hazardous Chemicals.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation such as pipettes, balances, centrifuges, thermocyclers, spectrophotometers, plate readers, or automated laboratory systems.
  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds.
Additional Information
Compensation
  • Hourly: $18.00-$21.50
  • There is a 10% differential for this shift, in addition to base pay.
Schedule
  • Tuesday-Saturday 3:00pm-11:30pm
