Job summary

Black Hills Trucking LLC is seeking a full-time on-site diesel/heavy equipment technician in Casper, Wyoming. You will inspect, repair, and maintain trucks, trailers, and equipment, and work with a team to keep the fleet in continuous operation.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years of mechanical experience, ability to provide own tools, and a valid driver's license with a clean MVR. DOT drug/alcohol testing may be required.

Qualifications

• English fluency in verbal and written communication.
• High School diploma or equivalent with 0–2 years of mechanical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, repairs, and maintains trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Works with other technicians and cross-trains as necessary to keep trucks and trailers in continuous operation.
• Observes and listens to defective equipment to determine cause of trouble or nature and extent of equipment damage; reports major problems to supervisor and repairs, overhauls, or replaces parts as directed.
• Inspects trucks, equipment, and machinery to diagnose defects and verify repairs.
• Mixes, utilizes, dispenses, and/or properly disposes of volatile compounds including fuels, lubricants, and solvents; reads and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for any such materials and knows proper handling/disposal requirements for substances requiring specialized handling/disposal.
• Keeps work area clean by sweeping, discarding used material properly and storing tools and supplies.
• May be required to operate small vehicles on and off company premises.

What We're Looking For:

Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities

• A high school diploma or equivalent education with zero to two (0-2) years of mechanical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• Ability to provide own tools.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Abilities

• Ability to meet physical requirements established by the Department of Transportation (DOT), including DOT drug/alcohol testing.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• English language fluency, verbal and written.
• Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
