Location: City of Tallmadge City Hall, 46 North Avenue

Application Fee: $20, payable in cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express at the Payment Center in Tallmadge City Hall (lower level). Payments can also be made by phone at 330-633-5011. Checks are not accepted. The fee is non-refundable.

• Applications and proof of payment must be submitted in person at 46 North Avenue.
• The deadline to apply is 2:00 p.m. on July 14, 2025.
• Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted, including mailed applications (must be received by the deadline).
• No notifications will be sent after application submission.

Qualifications

Applicants must be able to read, write, and follow instructions. They must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement and a clean record. A copy of the CDL must be attached to the application. Residing in Summit County or a neighboring county is required. Applicants must not pose a health or safety threat to themselves or others.

Veterans claiming preference must attach a copy of their DD214 (Honorable) to the application.

During the test, calculators are permitted; applicants must bring their own. Cell phone use during the test is prohibited.

Job Responsibilities - Utilities Department

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water and sewer systems.
• Operate sewer inspection cameras (crawler and push), conduct sewer line surveys, use water tap machines, flush fire hydrants, locate pipes and shut-offs, install water meters and pits, run valve machines, read meters, and test for accuracy.
• Clean stormwater systems, install and maintain water/sewer lines, hydrants, valves, pumps, service connections, meter pits, manholes, and related structures. Perform custodial duties in department facilities, record water meter readings, and take chlorine and fluoride readings.
• Operate equipment such as hole boring machines, sewer televising trucks, vac trucks, backhoes, and excavators.
