Job summary

John Betlem Heating & Cooling, part of TurnPoint Services, is seeking a skilled HVAC Service Technician in New York. You will diagnose and repair residential and light commercial systems, perform maintenance and safety inspections, and guide customers through repair options.

EPA Universal Certification is required; trade school certificate or equivalent experience preferred. Must lift up to 100 lbs and have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in residential or light commercial HVAC service.
• EPA Universal Certification required.
• HVAC trade school certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficient in diagnosing HVAC equipment and reading wiring diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, safety inspections, and system tune-ups.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and explain options to customers.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, codes, and company standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and parts usage logs.

What You Bring

• 3+ years of experience in residential or light commercial HVAC service (required). - EPA Universal Certification (required). - HVAC trade school certificate or equivalent experience preferred. - Proficient in diagnosing HVAC equipment and reading wiring diagrams and schematics. - Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Strong time management and problem-solving abilities. - Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, and outdoor environments. - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless systems. - Perform routine maintenance, safety inspections, and system tune-ups. - Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues efficiently and accurately. - Recommend repairs, upgrades, or system replacements as needed and explain options to customers clearly. - Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, building codes, and company standards. - Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and parts usage logs. - Collaborate with dispatch, supervisors, and other technicians to ensure timely and professional service. - Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service. - Maintain a clean, organized work vehicle and professional appearance.
