Walmart invites applications for a Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration with Commercial Rack Experience at our Chattanooga location. You’ll repair and oversee rack refrigeration equipment using commercial HVAC/R skills, hand and power tools, and digital work orders to support store operations.
Responsibilities include emergency response, equipment inspection, and compliance with OSHA/EPA guidelines while maintaining safety standards.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in commercial Refrigeration maintenance.
- Large Scale Rack Refrigeration Experience.
- EPA Type I/II or Universal Certification for Refrigerant handling.
- Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a MVR report.
- 18 years or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
- Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
- Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.

As a Supermarket Rack Refrigeration Technician at our local retail store, your role will support and oversee repair within the Walmart facilities Refrigeration equipment team and assets by utilizing commercial Refrigeration skills and using hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs.
- Maintain and repair Walmart facility's Refrigeration equipment and assets by utilizing commercial refrigeration skills and using hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs.
- Utilize the work order management system to receive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and document repair activities.
- Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
- Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
- Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely.
- Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and guidelines by performing work according to practices and procedures outlined in the Walmart Refrigeration HVAC safety policy and environmental guidelines.
- Lift up to 75 pounds, move up and down ladders, and comfortable working at heights frequently
- 2 years’ experience in commercial Refrigeration maintenance

- Type I/Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for Refrigerant handling
- Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report
- 18 years or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
- Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
- Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
- Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Mechanical license in city and/or state where job is located
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, level of job offer, qualifications and other job-related factors.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
