Position Summary... Role summary:

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards. The Technician collaborates with management and team members to deliver reliable system performance, supports operational needs across multiple locations, and participates in on-call rotations. Strong technical expertise, adherence to protocols, and effective communication are essential to ensure optimal facility operations and customer satisfaction.

About the team:

The Facility Services HVAC-Refrigeration team is dedicated to maintaining and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems across Walmart locations. This team performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, and ensures systems operate safely and efficiently. Collaborating closely with store leadership, they document completed work to support a comfortable environment and protect refrigerated products. The team follows established safety and regulatory standards while responding promptly to service calls. Members utilize technical expertise and digital tools to manage workloads and contribute to continuous operational improvements, ensuring reliable facility services that support Walmart's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

What you'll do...

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational standards.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
• Adhere to OSHA and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols during all service activities.
• Lead and mentor field teams, providing technical guidance and promoting safety practices.
• Manage service calls, documentation, and coordinate with external providers as needed.
• Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.

What you'll bring:

• Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
• Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration.
• Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
• Competence in operating heavy machinery and company vehicles safely and responsibly.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and collaborate with customers and team members.
• Capability to lead and mentor field teams while managing escalated service issues effectively.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

• Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• 4 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
• Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Preferred Qualifications...

• Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Mechanical license in city and/or state where job is located.
• Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
