Job summary

EPRI in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Technician, Facilities to maintain and repair building systems. The role covers mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural tasks, plus coordinating outside vendors and ensuring safety and compliance.

You will perform preventive maintenance, manage records, and interact with managers, staff, and contractors. A high school diploma and 2 years of building maintenance experience are required; a technical diploma is a plus.

Job Summary and Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose worn, damaged and/or malfunctioning mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.

  • Perform facilities maintenance and proactive repair work as needed.

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repair work as needed.

  • Perform electrical repairs such as replacing fuses, light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, and switches.

  • Perform general plumbing installation and repair work.

  • Direct outside vendors and coordinate, oversee and inspect work done by all Facilities contractors (Including but not limited to HVAC, electricians, roofers, security system, pest control, janitorial services, and copier equipment).

  • Interact and communicate verbally and in writing with various groups and individuals such as immediate manager, other EPRI employees, vendors, suppliers, and contractors.

  • Perform all work in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, specifications, schedules, and standards of quality and safety.

  • Efficient computer operation and usage required (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas.

  • Perform general carpentry work as needed to assist in the construction, repair and renovations of floors, stairways, and partitions. Fabricate and install components and casework. Assemble furniture, cabinets, shelving, etc.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.

  • Ability to build walls, hang and spackle drywall; repair, prep and paint walls; install doors, blinds, dry erase boards, and cork boards.

  • Maintain assigned equipment and tools.

  • Maintain required maintenance and repair records.

  • Exercise care and safety in the use of equipment and tools required to complete assigned tasks.

  • Perform services to heating and air conditioning systems and equipment as needed.

  • Maintain and update skills by staying abreast of applicable technologies and techniques.

  • Ability to work independently with guidance from Manager or their designee.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager or their designee.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma and at least 2 years of general building maintenance experience required. Prefer a vocational/technical diploma in one or more of the building trade(s), supplemented by at least 2 years of general building maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Candidate must have good oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service when working with EPRI staff which requires a positive outlook and follow up initiative.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, reach overhead, bend, stoop, and crouch on a regular basis.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate powered lift trucks.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

The salary range for this position is $54,000 USD to $57,000 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
