At CableCom, as a Field Walkout Technician, your primary responsibilities include the construction and maintenance of plant infrastructure, design, and engineering. You will provide route analysis of outside plant telecommunications, serving as a backbone for telecom and service provider companies, as they are the primary designers of the network.

What you’ll do as a Field Walkout Technician

• Oversee and manage field engineering activities related to planning, designing, and permitting new cable routes
• Visit customer sites to gather OSP survey information, evaluate requirements, and determine necessary OSP equipment
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling teams to deliver results
• Coordinate with drafting and GIS personnel to produce construction and permit drawings
• Develop base maps and provide field engineering services for permit, construction, and as-built drawings
• Research permitting requirements from authorities and incorporate them into OSP design
• Recommend routes based on cost and permitting constraints
• Research and evaluate route options, including aerial, underground, and existing conduits
• Engage with customer engineering and project teams regularly
• Maintain safe working habits according to regulations and policies

What you’ll need

• At least 18 years old
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-4 years experience in OSP engineering
• Experience with aerial and underground construction and engineering
• Experience with cable placement and splicing
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to travel and work extended hours, including overtime and weekends
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
• Familiarity with permitting requirements and RUS processes

Salary Range: $23 - $35 per hour
