Job Description

Location: Early Childhood Department

The Early Childhood Occupational Therapist participates in the child and family assessment process for children ages birth to three. Services are provided through the primary service provider/coaching model to children and their families in their natural environments. This therapist also provides services to children ages 3-5 in the district's center‑based preschool program.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary service provider for children with disabilities ages birth to 3.
• Provide services through the Primary Service Provider Model to children and families in natural environments.
• Serve some children ages 3-5 in community/home childcare and preschool‑aged children in the district’s preschool program.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, community providers, and other early childhood service providers to implement programming and coordinate services.
• Develop and implement IEPs and IFSPs and related special education paperwork.
• Conduct child and family assessment, including motor development, collection of GOLD data, and collaboration with families and community childcare providers on home visits.
• Maintain ongoing communication with center‑based preschool staff through the implementation of the child’s IFSP/IEP.
• Travel to homes, community childcare, and LPS preschool sites; require a Nebraska driver’s license, dependable transportation, and a driving record that meets district requirements.
• Work full time (185 days, continuous year calendar) and be available for pre‑arranged late afternoon/evening responsibilities.
