Technician: Early Childhood Intervention (10 month)

Position Summary

Assists in implementing lesson plans, including educational and behavioral strategies for students with disabilities. Provides special education services and behavioral support to students and teachers as part of the IEP team. Travels to homes or between schools to work with children, teachers, and caregivers on instructional and behavioral strategies. Maintains students in the least restrictive environment. The position may be 10 or 12 months depending on the assignment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Works directly with students, families, and staff to implement lesson plans in community and home settings.
  • Assists with implementing IEP and IFSP goals and outcomes.
  • Creates and modifies lesson plans and strategies to differentiate instruction.
  • Documents and maintains student data, reports data summaries.
  • Monitors student behavior and models intervention techniques.
  • Participates in meetings, conferences, and professional development.
  • Travels countywide to provide services in various settings during normal hours.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires an Associate's Degree in human development, child psychology, counseling, special education, or related fields from an accredited college, or equivalent education and experience. Two years of experience in Special Education is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Willingness to learn instructional strategies.
  • Patience, tact, good judgment, and physical and mental capacity to handle difficult students.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, video/web conferencing).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License (Class C) and reliable transportation.
  • Active licenses/certifications as required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Includes standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, talking, hearing, and driving as needed. Work environment primarily indoors, with travel required within the county.
