Job summary

Ryder in Lexington, Kentucky is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician on the second shift (2:00 pm – 10:30 pm). The role offers an hourly pay of $30.50, with a certification bonus up to $700 and a quarterly bonus of up to $500. Benefits include PTO, 401(k) match, paid training, and more.

Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, CDL Class A (preferred), and basic repair experience. Drug testing, DOT physical, and road test are required; CDL must be obtained within 6

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification post secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A license preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Two years or more of training/experience in required areas.
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, a DOT physical, and a road test.
• Background and motor vehicle checks for last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs.
• Interacts with customers and drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Follows safety, DOT, and MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
